Tao Men is the son of Tao Ren and Iron Maiden Jeanne, making him second in line to the Tao Family throne. As a kid, he's got his father's chestnut hair and sharp facial features down to a T, but he inherited his mother's silver hair and striking blood-red eyes—a combination that makes him pretty unmistakable.
Growing up, Men developed the same impulsive, brash personality as his father, though he picked up his mother's haughty attitude and way of speaking. Even his hair does that thing where it straightens out when he's shocked or agitated, just like Ren's—though it's wavier overall, courtesy of Jeanne.
As a shaman, Men's got serious talent. He's already capable of performing Over Souls, and he inherited spiritual allies from both parents: Bason from his father and Shamash from his mother. When he does an Over Soul with Bason, he wields a legendary Guan Dao that Bason himself carried in life—a weapon passed down from Ren.
Men first shows up near the end of Shaman King as a baby when Ren brings him to a reunion of the Five Elemental Warriors. Walking out of a chariot ahead of his father caused everyone to briefly mistake the kid for an adult Ren, which made for a pretty funny moment. Ren clears things up by picking him up and introducing him properly. Later at a family restaurant, Men casually looks at Horohoro and calls him "dummy" (or "baka")—whether intentional or just a lucky burp, nobody's sure.
By the time of Shaman King: Flowers, Men's seven years old and staying at Funbari Onsen as part of his royal training with the Tao Family. He's got Blocken, Zhang-Ching, and Big Billy watching over him, and he jokingly calls the whole thing "a test of experiencing the life of the lower classes."
His name is actually a mashup: the first kana comes from "Maiden" (his mother) and the last from "Ren" (his father)—the same naming method used for Asakura Hana.
