Hideki Ide sticks with the investigation longer than most, though he's not without his doubts. He bails early on because he can't get behind L's tactics, but eventually comes back around. Once he does, he's more of a supporting player—helping coordinate the team's movements and handling practical stuff like setting up roadblocks to corner suspects. After L dies, he rejoins the effort again, though he's pretty open about the fact that he's mostly there because of Aizawa. Among the Task Force members, Ide trusts Light more than anyone except Light's father, which says something about how he reads people.
