Ringo Akai is an 11-year-old character who debuted in the Japan-exclusive game Tokyo Mew Mew – Tojo Shin Mew Mew! – Minna Issho ni Gohoshi Suru Nyan. Unlike the main Mew Mew team, she doesn't have animal DNA grafted into her body. Instead, she uses a Mew Aqua necklace passed down from her mother to merge her DNA with that of her pet Humboldt penguin, Yuki—her unique take on the whole transformation thing.
Her home life is complicated: her mother has passed away and her father's whereabouts are unknown, so she lives with her older brother Mashio. She becomes a Mew Mew when Quiche transforms Yuki into a Chimera Anima.
Outside the original game, Ringo's only other appearance is in the Petite Mew Mew manga.
