Julius Lastania—originally Julius Amidonia—was the exiled ruler of Amidonia before the kingdom fell. Son of the late Gaius Amidonia and older brother to Roroa, he spent most of his life expecting to inherit a throne he'd never learned how to actually run.
The guy was textbook ambitious and self-important, harboring big dreams of conquest and expansion. He wasn't quite as volatile as his father, but he shared the same stubborn conviction that might made right. Where Julius really fell short was in the actual business of ruling. He had no real grasp of what his own people needed, and when domestic problems piled up, he had no answers—mostly because he'd adopted his father's approach of prioritizing the military above everything else.
The disastrous invasion of Elfrieden changed him. After getting crushed and watching his country get annexed, Julius became noticeably less grandiose. He spent a long time seething over his loss to Kazuya, viewing him not just as an enemy but as the guy who'd stolen his entire birthright. That resentment stuck around for a while, though his exile seemed to take some of the edge off his personality overall.
