Oriko "Okko" Seki is a 12-year-old girl living with her grandmother, who runs a traditional Japanese inn. She lost both her parents in a car accident not long before the story begins. Her grandmother brings her in to help manage the inn, and at first, Okko's reluctant about the whole thing—until a talking spirit called a uribou basically talks her into giving it a real shot. From that point on, she's genuinely committed to keeping the inn going and living up to what her grandmother expects of her.
