Tessai Tsukabishi works as Kisuke Urahara's right hand at the shop, though his actual job title is far more impressive—he's a former Shinigami captain, specifically the one who led the Kidō Corps before getting exiled to the human world alongside Urahara. Like his boss, he now hides in a gigai and keeps a low profile while helping run the place.
He's a serious, composed guy who serves as the voice of reason against Jinta's antics, though he's got a softer side than his stern exterior suggests. Tessai is genuinely devoted to Urahara and takes real pride in his work at the shop—he'll actually tear up if someone compliments it, which is weirdly endearing. On the flip side, he gets visibly annoyed if the shop gets dissed. He has questionable taste in remedies (blame late-night TV infomercials for his collection of dubious medicines), and he's one of the rare few who genuinely enjoys Orihime's bizarre food concoctions, along with Rangiku.
Physically, he's hard to miss: tall, muscular, dark-skinned, with thick square glasses and a massive handlebar mustache. Around the shop he sticks to a white shirt and blue apron, though back in Soul Society he wore more elaborate captain robes over standard Shinigami gear.
Tessai got exiled for breaking a major rule—he used a forbidden spell, even though it was supposedly in a failed attempt to stop Aizen. He's been around the Shinigami world for at least 200 years, long enough that old terminology like "Quincy" carries genuine weight for him.
