Kyle is the protagonist of the game and takes after his father Stahn in pretty much every way—straightforward personality, simple worldview, the whole package. He doesn't remember much about Stahn though, since his dad left on some journey when Kyle was a kid. That's what he's always been told anyway, by his mom Rutee and his best friend Loni. The truth is darker: Stahn was actually killed by Barbatos when Kyle was young.
Rutee now runs the Dunamis Orphanage in the town of Cresta, so Kyle grew up surrounded by other kids who are basically his siblings. Loni is his closest friend—they've been inseparable for over ten years, and Loni's always treated him like a little brother. Despite hardly knowing his father, Kyle has complete faith that he's destined to become a hero, banking on the legacy of both his parents. Stahn and Rutee were part of the group that faced off against the Eye of Atamoni roughly eighteen years before the events of the game—a pretty huge deal back in the original Tales of Destiny.
In combat, Kyle's a solid physical attacker with swords. His magic, though, is pretty weak and underdeveloped—yet another way he mirrors his father. It's a fitting parallel given how much else they have in common.
