Hampnie caught up with him and destroyed her body anyway. After losing his child as well, Julie became consumed with getting revenge on Hampnie.
Despite everything he's been through, Julie's fundamentally a caring and softhearted guy. It's what made his wife's death hit so hard and what drives his need for vengeance—not cruelty, but grief twisted into purpose.
