Malcolm is a special inspector dispatched to Headquarters by the Vatican after General Cross and the other Exorcists return with the Ark. He's a tall, imposing man whose very presence is meant to intimidate—and it works. He knows far more about Cross and the Ark than he's willing to admit, and he's deeply suspicious of the General, openly critical of his methods.
His main concern is Allen. Malcolm wants him tried for heresy, viewing Allen's possible connection to the 14th Noah as too dangerous a liability to ignore. To neutralize Cross's influence, he's reassigned the General to desk duty and cut off all contact between them and Allen. It's a power move that works on multiple levels.
Malcolm has big plans for the Order's future. He intends to weaponize the Ark against the Earl and is actively recruiting new Exorcists to strengthen their forces before the final battle. His most controversial decision came when he forced Lenalee to invoke her Innocence by guilt-tripping her over Komui's sacrifice in joining the Order—a gambit that could've destroyed both her and the organization if it went wrong.
Lenalee carries trauma from her early days at Headquarters, and Malcolm was apparently involved in whatever happened back then. Even now, his presence triggers her stress response; she still seeks out Kanda to calm down, just like she did when they were younger.
Despite his intimidating demeanor, Malcolm's known for two oddly domestic things: he sports a toothbrush mustache and apparently makes excellent cakes.
