A former SAS operative turned spirit medium. Denbat shows up as part of Team X-II's coordinated assault on Hao, though he knows the odds are brutal. When his comrades Porf and Lucky fall in combat, he curses Hao—but Hao challenges him on the logic of it all: if Denbat knew they'd probably die anyway, why keep fighting?
The answer is that Denbat came prepared. He'd rigged up a satellite in orbit, wired to his Archangel and equipped with a devastating orbital laser called the XDI. He manages to fire it down at Hao from space, but the blast gets deflected. Hao kills him shortly after.
Denbat's spirit, Raphael, ends up housed in the ammunition cartridges of a grenade launcher—a somewhat grim final resting place for a soldier. His name is supposedly inspired by Golden Bat cigarettes, a random detail that's stuck around in fan circles.
