Tsuru-Sen'nin, the Crane Hermit, is best known as the master of Tenshinhan and Chiaotzu, and the older brother of the assassin Tao Pai Pai. He goes by Master Shen in the Funimation dub and Lord Wu Zu in older English versions.
He and Kame-Sen'nin once trained together under the same martial arts school, but that partnership fell apart after they were overwhelmed by Piccolo Daimaō. Their teacher Mutaito sacrificed himself sealing away the demon, and the loss changed everything for Tsuru-Sen'nin. Where Kame-Sen'nin honored that legacy, the Crane Hermit grew bitter and resentful. He eventually abandoned his master's philosophy entirely and started his own school, one built on hatred rather than discipline or honor.
His students became a reflection of that darkness. When the 22nd Tenka'ichi Budōkai rolled around, he entered Tenshinhan and Chiaotzu specifically to take down Kame-Sen'nin's pupils—Goku, Kuririn, and Yamcha. It was a direct challenge, student against student, with the old grudge simmering beneath it all.
