Kyuuketsuju
Kyuuketsuju (literally "Vampire Tree") — also known as Youkaiju (妖怪樹, "Youkai Tree") — is a blood-drinking tree youkai and one of Kitarou's early antagonists. The creature first showed up in the Shonen Magazine story "Blood Battle Ogasawara."
As a youkai, it survives by consuming blood, making it a genuinely dangerous threat rather than just another folkloric curiosity. Fans of the series often remember it as a solid early-arc villain, the kind that helped establish what Kitarou was really up against in his world.
