Sanae is Nagisa's mother and works alongside her husband Akio running the Furukawa Bakery. She's known for being childish and emotional most of the time, though she can flip a switch and become surprisingly capable and dependable when the situation calls for it. At the bakery, she's constantly experimenting with bizarre bread recipes that, frankly, don't sell because they're not actually edible—but she keeps trying anyway. Beyond the bakery, she tutors kids on the side. She's pretty proud of the fact that people frequently mistake her for Nagisa's older sister thanks to her youthful looks.
