Synopsis

Okazaki Tomoya is a delinquent who thinks life is pointless and that he's destined for nothing. He and his friend Sunohara spend their time cutting class and coasting through high school. Everything changes when he encounters Furukawa Nagisa on the way to school. She's muttering to herself until she suddenly shouts "Anpan!" as a way to pump herself up about things she likes. Tomoya finds her weird and doesn't think much of it, even when she declares them friends on the spot. But he keeps running into her around campus, and eventually he gives in and actually befriends her. That's when he learns she's a year behind because of a serious illness, and her big dream is to restart the school's drama club. With nothing else going on, Tomoya agrees to help—along with four other girls who get pulled into the project. As he gets closer to this group, Tomoya starts learning what each of them is dealing with. Helping them work through their personal problems slowly changes his perspective. He realizes that maybe life isn't as boring as he always thought it was.
