Midori Tamaru is a first year at Mizusawa High School and one of the newer members of the school's Karuta Club.
Among the recent recruits, she's the most skilled player—and she knows it. Midori's constantly trying to prove herself against the senior members, wanting to establish herself as the strongest in the club. Her pushiness about being the center of attention rubs her fellow first years the wrong way; when the seniors started giving the other newbies some focus, Midori just walked out of the room.
Outside of karuta, she's pretty isolated. She doesn't seem to have made any friends in her class and mostly keeps to herself, spending her free time playing karuta alone.
