Like his classmate Samon Sannosuke, he's notorious for disappearing, but where Samon at least seems aware he has terrible direction sense, this guy just wanders off completely oblivious to the fact that he's about to get lost again. It's kind of his thing—he'll just drift away and suddenly realize he has no idea where he is.
The real chaos happens when he and Samon team up. That's when their classmate Sakubei usually steps in with what amounts to actual damage control. She's resorted to literally keeping them on a leash during outings because otherwise they'll split and vanish into thin air. It's as ridiculous as it sounds, but apparently it works.
