Barom is a Zeon officer best known for his role in a critical rescue decision during the One Year War. When M'Quve's fleet departed Grenada bound for Solomon, they discovered an escape capsule carrying Zenna and the young Mineva Zabi. M'Quve was ready to leave them behind, but Barom pushed back—he argued that soldiers fighting in space need to know someone will come for them if things go wrong. The argument worked, and they picked up the capsule. M'Quve then had Barom escort the capsule back to Grenada while the main fleet pressed forward.
Later, Barom commanded his own ship headed for the Texas colony, where he was killed in combat against Wakkein's Magellan. Fans often note his brief appearance as one of those small but meaningful moments in the series—a character defined by a single act of conscience that ended up saving Mineva's life.
