Everything changed during a cafe robbery when he threw himself in front of a stray bullet to protect a girl he'd never met. Turns out that girl was Shinobu Akiyama herself, the very author he'd admired.
He died regretting two things: never getting to read Akiyama's latest work, and just. wanting more time. Somehow, that desperate wish to live brought him back—but as a dachshund, which was definitely not what he had in mind.
Among the people around him, Kirihime just called him "Mongrel," "Mutt," or "Dog" without much affection. It was Yayoi who actually gave him a proper name: Kuro.
