An American martial artist who shows up in Japan keeping mostly to himself. JJ is the quiet type—observant and measured in how he approaches things.
When he first arrives at the temple gathering, he hangs back and barely speaks, just follows along with the priest's prayer like everyone else. But he's definitely paying attention. After watching Kato casually lift two people to show off the suit's capabilities, JJ steps up to test him, and Kato obliges with a hard hit. The thing is, JJ didn't bother bringing a suit or putting one on beforehand—he's confident enough without it.
Once things go sideways and the massive temple statues animate and start chasing the group, he runs with them. When the human-sized aliens swarm in, that's when JJ really shows what he can do. He handles several of them solo using pure martial arts skill. When Kato splits everyone into groups, JJ ends up with Hojo's team, and when most of them make the push into the final building crawling with aliens, he goes in with them.
