Ukita Kouzou, known as Ukita the Thrower, started out as part of the Techniques Trio alongside Takeda Ikki and Kouga Taichi in Ragnarok. After losing to Kenichi, he switched sides entirely—joining the Shinpaku Alliance as one of its captains, though he was later demoted to vice-captain after realizing how much stronger the other members were.
He's a tall guy with a lean, muscular frame, short spiky brown hair, and a scar under his chin. Always wears sunglasses, even in casual clothes. Despite the tough appearance, Takeda once called him one of the five most handsome guys in Ragnarok—and yeah, he's got kind eyes if you look past the thug aesthetic.
The character arc: Ukita used to be a typical delinquent who enjoyed fighting dirty and winning by any means necessary. Judo was his real passion, which led him to Ragnarok in the first place. But getting beaten by Kenichi actually changed him. He ditched the underhanded tactics, straightened up his attitude, and started fighting to protect people he cares about instead of just for the ego trip.
His friendship with Takeda is the core of who he is—they've had each other's backs since Ragnarok, and when Takeda decided to leave, Ukita didn't hesitate to follow him despite orders to take him out. That's the kind of loyalty he operates with.
On Kisara: He's got it bad for Nanjou Kisara. He's constantly trying to impress her—giving her picture books, letting her come over to play with his cats, basically anything he can think of to get her attention. He'll defend her without thinking twice, even when she tells him not to. Kisara denies liking him, but she's clearly into him—she blushes around him, worries about him more than anyone else during fights, and got upset when Niijima suggested letting him get beat down by the Capoeira team. She gets flustered whenever someone brings it up.
His bond with Kenichi: These two understand each other in a way they don't with anyone else. Kenichi trusts him enough to share things his masters don't even know about, and they can actually talk about their feelings for the girls they like without judgment. Ukita's even given Kenichi advice on handling Miu. Later on, he told Miu straight up that he admires Kenichi for how far he's come—both as a fighter and as a person—and that he thinks Kenichi inspired him to get stronger too. Even his master Machino noticed the fire in him lately.
The insecurity: Being the weakest member of the main force gets to him. When he couldn't protect Kisara during a double date and Shiratori outclassed him in everything, it stung—especially when Kisara said she'd protect him instead. It hit his pride hard, similar to how Kenichi feels about his own limitations. But that humiliation actually motivated him. Instead of staying down, it gave him the drive to face Shiratori head-on and prove he's worth something as both a fighter and a man.
