Kyoujurou is a major supporting character in Demon Slayer: Kimetsu no Yaiba and takes center stage during the Mugen Train Arc. He holds the rank of Flame Hashira in the Demon Slayer Corps.
Appearance
Tall and athletically built, Kyoujurou has the kind of face that's hard to miss—his bright golden hair streaks into red at the tips, mimicking flames, and falls past his shoulders with chin-length bangs framing his face. His eyes are gold fading to deep red, with white pupils. He has distinctive black forked eyebrows that add to his intense look.
His outfit reflects his status as Hashira. He wears a paler brown version of the standard Demon Slayer uniform—brown gakuran jacket, white belt, and hakama pants—layered with a haori that gradients from white to yellow with red flame-like edges at the hem. This haori once belonged to his father, Shinjuro, who held the same position. Personality & Character
What really stands out about Kyoujurou is his relentless optimism. He's almost always smiling, enthusiastic about everything, and genuinely excited about his work as a Hashira—which he wears without arrogance, just pure passion. There's something pure-hearted about him; he doesn't just fight because it's his job. He believed deeply that those born with strength have a responsibility to protect the weak, a principle his mother instilled in him early on.
Beneath the cheerfulness, though, he's tactically sharp and logical. In combat, he's precise and quick, especially when others are at risk. He's good at spotting talent in people too—he even recognized potential in Nezuko despite initially wanting to kill her, after watching her risk everything to fight other demons.
He loves his family hard. He respects and worries about his father Shinjuro despite their relationship growing strained, and he's endlessly encouraging toward his younger brother Senjurou, always believing in him. When facing death, his last words speak volumes: he told his father to take care of himself and his brother to pursue his dreams no matter what.
Kyoujurou has moments where optimism cracks, though. He sometimes senses that people he believes in might not survive, and it weighs on him. Like most demon slayers, he absolutely despises demons—partly for their brutality, partly for their fundamental clash with his values.
