Despite seeming to genuinely respect and admire Foxy, Hamburg can't help but laugh whenever things go wrong for him—there's something endearingly goofy about that contradiction.
Fans often note the irony that he leads the Groggy Monsters despite being the smallest member of the crew. During the Groggy Ring competition, Sanji takes him down with a relentless combo of kicks. In filler episodes, he shows up again to compete in various other games.
Like the rest of his crew, Hamburg's name comes from the Japanese dish of the same name—the Groggy Monsters are basically all named after food.
