Jerry serves as the Black Order's head cook and is best known for his surprisingly maternal personality—something he discovered about himself while in China, where he also picked up his cooking skills. He's Indian and goes by "Jerry" as a nickname; his actual age is unknown. The mangaka felt the need to include a male symbol next to his name in early appearances just to clarify to readers that he was, in fact, a man.
He grew up training in Muay Thai and Thai-style kickboxing, and his family expected him to eventually inherit their dojo from his father. Jerry had other plans, though, and spent his younger years traveling through various countries instead of settling down. He's considered Komui's best friend and has a good rapport with Lenalee.
There's a running gag in one of the omakes featuring various characters in different scenarios working under Jerry—Arystar Krory appears in it with a caption reading "Asked Jerry if he was gay," playing on the feminine energy Jerry gives off around the Order.
