Kuri was a minor character in the early Sailor Moon anime and manga, appearing as a classmate of Usagi and Naru at Juuban Municipal Junior High School. She typically showed up alongside her friend Yumiko, and the pair served as supporting characters in the first arc—basically filling out the background and providing exposition about new locations, people, and events before the other Sailor Senshi came into the picture.
Like several students, Kuri attended Crystal Seminar and got caught up in Jadeite's energy-draining scheme. In episode 7, she and Yumiko were hypnotized by Derella and roped into competing in the Cinderella Caravan talent search. She wasn't a fan of Ami, dismissing her as a snob.
