A freelance writer who first met Kindaichi during the "Legend of Lake Hiren" case—the two hit it off immediately. He's stuck around ever since, basically becoming Kindaichi's go-to media contact and occasional investigative partner. Using his writing connections and reliable sources, he digs up background info on suspects, which has proven useful more than once.
Things get complicated in "Kindaichi the Killer," though. Itsuki discovers that one of his friends—someone he thought was helping the investigation—might actually be the killer. It's a rare moment where his trusted network doesn't quite pan out. He also makes a brief appearance in "The Gentleman Thief."
