Osono runs a small bakery in Koriko and becomes Kiki's first real friend in the city—basically a maternal figure for the young witch. She's heavily pregnant for most of the film and eventually shown nursing her baby in the end credits. It's Osono who gives Kiki her first job as a messenger, and more importantly, she treats Kiki with genuine kindness when no one else does.
