Kuro's a hell wolf who basically runs security for the Big Tree village—he and his partner Yuki showed up at Hiraku Machio's farm looking for a place to crash, and next thing you know, they've got an entire pack going. Fans often note that the pack's become essential to keeping the peace around the village.
But here's the thing: Kuro's also an absolutely terrifying chess player. Like, genuinely unbeatable. Anyone foolish enough to challenge him at the board gets completely demolished. He's a legitimate grandmaster, the kind of opponent you don't come back from.
