Bewear is a bipedal bear Pokémon with black legs and front, contrasting with pink on its head, back, and tail. A white headband-like marking across the top of its head has two ear-like tufts on each side. It has a short white muzzle, a triangular black nose, and small black eyes. Pink paw pads cover its front paws, while its hind paws have white digital pads. Its short tail is ringed with dark pink.
Don't let the cute appearance fool you—Bewear is genuinely dangerous, often called the most dangerous Pokémon in Alola. Even when it's just swinging its arms around playfully, that's a warning sign. The problem is that Bewear shows affection through hugs, and those hugs hit hard enough to break bones. Trainers have actually died from its embrace. The Pokémon means well—it hugs people it considers friends—but it needs serious training to learn restraint. It also uses that crushing grip to subdue prey before dragging it back to its nest.
Bewear's martial arts skills are apparently self-taught, picked up by watching Black Belts train in the woods. In Lental, they hibernate during food shortages. There's a quirk mentioned in the Sleep Style Dex: on rare occasions, Bewear will hug a log while sleeping after mistaking it for a friend—and inevitably smash the log to pieces in the process.
The Alola region entries in Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon highlight just how capable Bewear is. It's intelligent enough to run across water, build tools like wooden motorcycles, and leap incredibly high. Despite its bulk, it's surprisingly fast. Bewear is fiercely protective of its cub Stufful and has a taste for Combee honey and berries.
Evolution: Bewear evolves from Stufful.
