Ginji is one of the main characters in Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi and the young master of Tenjin-ya. A nine-tailed fox ayakashi, he's best known for being the first supernatural resident of the Hidden Realm to actually treat Aoi with genuine kindness. Despite being close in age to Ōdanna, he has the ability to shapeshift into different forms.
He runs a modest restaurant in Tenjin-ya's garden, though it doesn't exactly attract crowds. After tasting Aoi's human-style cooking, he was so impressed that he brought her on to work with him—and later asked her to help out at the inn as well.
On the surface, Ginji comes across as genuinely kind-hearted and cheerful, someone who clearly cares about Aoi. He'll even sneak her food without Ōdanna's knowledge. He's friendly and openly respects Ōdanna, calling him a "wonderful ogre." That said, others have labeled him as manipulative, clever, sneaky, and even treacherous. Whether those accusations actually stick is debatable—his true nature remains somewhat ambiguous, which is part of what makes him interesting.
