Rize Kamishiro is best known for the chain of events that set the entire series in motion. A ghoul who frequented Anteiku, she took an interest in Kaneki—though her interest was the predatory kind. Before she could make a meal of him, though, she got caught under a steel beam and died. Her organs were then transplanted into Kaneki, which turned him into a half-ghoul and basically kicked off everything that happens in the story.
