Tachi was a Zeon officer who fought alongside Crowley Hamon in her vengeful assault on White Base, aimed at avenging Ramba Ral's death. He piloted the squad's final Zaku during the operation while Hamon commanded a series of Magella Tops mounted on a Gallop hovercraft.
The battle didn't go as planned. Tachi managed to board White Base and damage it with his Zaku, but Hamon ordered him to break off and engage the Gundam instead—Amuro was moving to stop their explosive-laden Gallop from crashing into the ship. In the fight that followed, Amuro flipped Tachi's Zaku directly into the line of fire from one of Zeon's own Magella Tops, killing him.
