Akatsuki's older brother works in trading and is constantly moving between Aqua and Man-Home. He's got an arrogant streak and gets a kick out needling his younger brother whenever they cross paths. The anime suggests he also bails Akatsuki out financially now and then.
He once hired Akari to transport some Venetian glass in her gondola. When the job wrapped up, he was impressed enough to tell her straight: "You accepted the job and saw it through. That's what it takes to be a professional." He rented her gondola for the work and apparently respected how she handled it.
