An eight-hundred-year-old nun who literally embodies her name, Yaobikuni carries the kessen-chu—parasitic blood-worms that grant immortality—and has passed them on to both Manji and Shizuma. She's short and distinctive, marked by spiral tattoos covering her face.
Yaobikuni's most significant act is meeting Rin Asano at her father's grave. After listening to Rin's story, she points her toward Manji, telling her he's the strongest and toughest yojimbo around—essentially setting the whole plot in motion.
