Naru's mother appears in Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon under the name Mayumi Osaka, though other adaptations never bothered naming her at all. Across all versions, she runs a jewelry shop and gets caught up in the series' opening conflict when a Youma either possesses or replaces her, setting up Sailor Moon's first real battle.
In the manga and live-action show, she basically exists only in the first Act. The anime gives her a bit more screentime—she pops up again in episode 23 with a rare crystal that catches Naru's eye; Naru mistakes it for the legendary Silver Crystal and steals it to give to Nephrite while he's pretending to be the human Masato Sanjouin. She resurfaces once more in episode 47 during an attack by the Cardian Vampire.
The video game Sailor Moon: Another Story opens with both mother and daughter getting attacked by Cenicienta. Sailor Moon saves them, and Naru's mom spends the rest of the game running the Osa-P shop counter, stocking and selling items for players.
