Captain works as a mercenary for the Extra Order Company, a private military outfit hired by Kageyama at Asahi Heavy Industries to take out the Lagoon Company and their hostage Rock—mainly to recover a computer disc Rock was carrying when he got nabbed.
He's a hardened veteran of the Liberian Civil War in the 1990s, someone willing to kill whoever signs his paycheck without hesitation. But what really drives him is the thrill of combat. Captain actively hunts for worthy opponents, and that hunger for a real fight would ultimately be his downfall.
His first move against the Lagoon Company came at the Yellow Flag Bar. Captain and his team opened fire from outside, cutting down most of the patrons—but they hadn't counted on Revy and Dutch mounting a counter-offensive. An enraged Bao, furious about his bar getting torn to shreds, also jumped in. The mercenaries took heavy losses: sixteen killed and eight wounded. Captain was genuinely impressed by how they fought. More than that, he wanted another shot at them.
He got his chance piloting a Mil Mi-24 Hind helicopter gunship. Captain chased the Black Lagoon into a dead-end river mouth and waited for them to come back out so he could finish the job.
What he didn't anticipate was Rock putting together a desperate plan to save his crew. The Black Lagoon used a sunken warship hull as a makeshift ramp, launching their PT boat into the air—right at the gunship. Dutch fired two torpedoes from the boat. One found its mark, hitting Captain dead in the face and bringing the whole gunship down with him.
