He's best known for his brutal combat style and almost feral nature—a result of his traumatic past. As a child, Ba Jio was the sole survivor of a tribal battle, and he spent years alone in the wilderness, essentially becoming more beast than human. When Yo Tan Wa encountered him during her campaign to unite neighboring tribes, he fought her fiercely but lost. Rather than execute him, she offered him a choice: die as a wild animal or join her as a companion. He chose the latter, and under her leadership, Ba Jio gradually transformed—learning multiple languages and developing into a skilled warrior while retaining that raw, predatory edge that makes him so effective in battle.
