Haku Ki
Haku Ki led the Six Great Generals of Qin and stands as one of history's most controversial military figures. Nearly two decades before the main story, his forces crushed Zhao at Chouhei—a victory marked by the mass burial of 400,000 prisoners of war, an act that defines his legacy in infamy.
His actual fate remains shrouded in mystery. Ren Pa has indicated that Haku Ki eventually took his own life, though the reasons behind this remain unclear.
As a commander, Haku Ki was fundamentally conservative. He favored reactive strategy over aggression, letting opponents come to him rather than pursuing risky offense. His real strength lay in reading the battlefield—he had an almost preternatural ability to spot enemy traps and schemes before they could spring. His tactic was deliberately maddening: he'd let rival generals chase him, let them get frustrated and sloppy, then slip away to pre-positioned mountain strongholds he'd prepared in advance. It was patient, methodical, and infuriatingly hard to counter.
Ren Pa respects this approach enough to analyze it, though he makes clear Haku Ki was no glory-seeker. This was a man who won through calculation and restraint.
