Philip Gargantos Armstrong is the head of the Armstrong family and father to Major Alex Louis Armstrong, Major General Olivier Mira Armstrong, and their younger sisters Amue, Strongine, and Kathleen Elle. His wife's name remains unknown.
A retired General, Philip's known for being talkative—probably too talkative. He loves telling stories about his family's illustrious history and his own military exploits to basically anyone trapped within earshot, and he clearly passed this trait down to Alex. The family pride runs deep.
Despite his reputation as a windbag, Philip's actually sharp. When Olivier started making demands regarding the Armstrong estate, he quickly grasped that Xing was looking more attractive than staying in Amestris. He managed to get his wife and daughter Kathleen out of the country under the guise of an "extended vacation."
