Irina is an upbeat, cheerful person and devout Christian. When she first showed up in the series, she came off as pretty harsh toward anyone she saw as opposing her faith—she and Xenovia were rough on Asia when they first met, and she definitely didn't take it well when Xenovia became a Devil. For a long time, everything revolved around the God of the Bible, but after learning He died, she shifted her devotion to Michael, who's essentially running things now.
She debuts in Volume 3 through an old photo of her and Issei playing together as kids. Her actual introduction comes when she arrives with Xenovia, sent by the Church to recover or destroy a bunch of stolen Excaliburs that Kokabiel had grabbed. The mission went badly—Kokabiel beat her down and nearly killed her before Asia stepped in and saved her life. By the end of the volume, she's heading back to the Church with the recovered Excalibur pieces, disappointed that Xenovia has switched sides.
Combat Style & Equipment
Like Xenovia, Irina uses Holy Swords, though hers came through artificial means. She's quick with a blade and carries Excalibur Mimic, one of the seven Excaliburs, which can shapeshift into whatever form she needs. Unfortunately, Kokabiel took it from her during that first mission, and it eventually got fused with three other stolen Excaliburs by Valper Galilei.
As an Angel, she shifted to light-based weapons—light swords, bows, arrows. In Volume 12, she started using a prototype Holy Demonic Sword that Heaven developed based on a blade Yuuto had given Michael during peace treaty negotiations. She's since learned to channel different elements through it: fire, ice, and lightning.
