Maaya Uchida is best known for voicing Rikka Takanashi in the 2012 anime Chuunibyou demo Koi ga Shitai!, the role that launched her into the spotlight. She'd started her seiyuu career a couple years earlier in 2010 with a minor part in the Boku, Otaryman OVA while still training at the Nihon Narration Engi Kenkyuujo school. Since her early days, she's been signed with I'm Enterprise, which has represented her throughout her career.

Following her breakthrough in Chuunibyou, she landed another notable role as Hajime Ichinose in Gatchman Crowds. Her rapid rise earned her the Best New Actress award at the 8th Seiyuu Awards in 2014. That same year, she expanded into music and released her first solo album through Pony Canyon.

She's the older sister of fellow voice actor Yuuma Uchida. In September 2025, she announced her marriage to actor Ishikawa Kaito.
