Synopsis

If you're desperate enough to look for it, you might find a strange phone number written in red marker somewhere. Call it, and a young guy calling himself Yato—a self-proclaimed god—will pick up. Yato's a minor deity with massive ambitions: he wants millions of devoted followers. Problem is, he doesn't even have a single shrine to his name. Instead, he scrapes by doing random odd jobs for just five yen each, which was already pretty pathetic before his weapon partner got sick of him and bailed. Then Yato's luck shifts when a middle school girl named Hiyori Iki saves him from getting hit by a car. She takes the impact instead and somehow survives, but it completely messes with her soul—now it can just slip out of her body whenever. Hiyori demands Yato fix her, and when she finds out he'll need a new partner weapon to do it, she reluctantly agrees to help him search for one. With Hiyori on his side, things are finally starting to look up for the deadbeat god.
