Yato is a minor god with big ambitions—namely, building his own shrine from scratch. He's got a distinctive look: always rocking a jersey and an absurdly fluffy scarf that he's genuinely proud of. He bills himself as the "delivery god" (or "Yato God," depending on who's talking) and has plastered his cell number around town on bulletin boards and vending machines so people can call him up for odd jobs. His rates are laughably cheap—usually just 5 yen, which is basically what you'd toss into a shrine donation box anyway.
After his last Shinki bailed on him, Yato was flying solo until Hiyori and Yukine came into his life. Now they're his crew. His friend Kofuku has a cute nickname for him: "Yatty."
Despite his goofy, scrappy persona, Yato isn't someone to mess with. He's blunt about what gods are capable of—they can literally do whatever they want, which includes causing serious harm or taking lives if they feel like it.
