Kiyomaru got tapped for the second expedition to Kotaku when the shogun lost patience waiting for the first team to bring back the Elixir of Life. He and Isuzu were selected to join Shugen and Jikka on this follow-up mission. Their orders were brutal: wipe out the first team's criminals, eliminate every living thing on the island, and keep the Yamada monitoring officers safe. Shugen was in charge of making sure that happened.
