He genuinely doesn't get why Ichigo and his crew would throw their lives on the line for Rukia Kuchiki, which says a lot about his priorities (survival first, heroics never). Yachiru Kusajishi's constant use of his nickname "Maki-Maki" gets under his skin, and honestly, he's kind of scared of her.
