Rio is a kid from the slums with a pretty dark backstory—his mother was killed right in front of him when he was only five, and he's been driven by revenge ever since. What makes his situation unusual is that he's also inherited the memories of his past life as Haruto Amakawa, which gives him knowledge and abilities way beyond what you'd expect from someone his age. It's a lot for one person to carry, and it shapes basically everything he does.
