Horumon Yaki leads the Horumon Clan, though the family's glory days are long behind them. The clan was once more powerful than the Kinniku Clan before a devastating war stripped away their influence. Horumon Yaki himself carries deep personal grudges—he's lost to Mayumi Kinniku repeatedly, and the Kinniku Clan killed his wife Harami. For years he pursued vengeance by dispatching his daughter Bibinba and the warrior Shishkeba Boo from the Barbecue Clan as assassins, but neither mission succeeded.
Things shifted after Bibinba married into the Kinniku Clan, forcing Horumon Yaki to accept peace with his old enemies. His appearance changed too. Early on, he was depicted with a shaved head when he was struggling as a villain, but later he adopted the masks worn by most Kinnikuman residents, eventually becoming part of the family's social circle.
By the time of Kinnikuman Nisei, he'd risen to respected status as one of four great elders on Planet Kinniku's Choujin Council. His name is derived from horumonyaki, the Japanese grilled organ meat dish.
