Tomoya's your typical kid from a typical family, but don't mistake that for confidence—he's a total pushover. The thing is, he's caught between two anxieties: he doesn't want people thinking he's weird because of the strange characters around him, but he also desperately doesn't want to just fade into the background as "average."
In the Theater Club, his feelings are all over the place. He can't stand Wataru Hibiki's eccentricity, while simultaneously looking up to Hokuto Hidaka. Being forced to read through so many scripts has actually messed with his way of speaking—his language gets jumbled up, and formal speech especially doesn't come naturally to him anymore.
