A fifth grader with an unusual burden: Wakaba can see things most people can't—mostly malevolent spirits that cause trouble for anyone unlucky enough to be near her. This ability has made her life pretty isolating. She doesn't have friends and rarely smiles, which isn't surprising given what she's dealing with.
Things change when she meets Reiko, a girl obsessed with the occult. Unlike everyone else, Reiko doesn't shy away from Wakaba's strange gift. The two eventually become friends, which marks a real turning point for someone who'd been alone for so long.
