Chousou is one of three incarnated Cursed Womb: Death Paintings—him, Kechizu, and Eso—created as part of Noritoshi Kamo's experiments. He started out working with Kenjaku's faction alongside Mahito, but everything changed when he learned that Kenjaku was actually Kamo himself, the man responsible for creating the Death Painting Wombs in the first place. That revelation hit hard enough that Chousou switched sides entirely. He's since bonded with Yuji Itadori after realizing they're both connected to Kenjaku—treating Yuji as a younger brother.
Being a Death Painting means Chousou is half-human, half-cursed spirit with a physical body visible to anyone, not just sorcerers. He's got a distinctly human look: tall with long black stringy hair styled into two high ponytails that stick straight up. His small dark purple eyes and thin eyebrows sit above his most distinctive feature—a blood mark running across the bridge of his nose and down both sides of his face. He can make this mark bleed on command to generate ammunition for his cursed technique, and the mark itself shifts shape when he activates his technique, Flowing Red Scale.
Style-wise, Chousou keeps it relatively simple: a loose tan robe covering most of his body, layered under a purple v-shaped gi vest. The vest has an extended bottom section reaching his waist, and he pairs everything with a matching purple scarf and brown boots. In the anime adaptation, he's depicted with violet eyeshadow and lighter brown hair instead.
