Johnny Steps (Dance Duelist)
A stylish dancer who first crosses paths with Anzu when he challenges her to a match on Super Dancer at the arcade. He's cocky about it—telling her he'll go easy since she's attractive, and that she owes him a date if he loses. Anzu shuts that down immediately and beats him anyway, which doesn't sit well with him.
In the anime, Johnny's a failed professional dancer. He bombed his audition and gave up on the dream, but he's still the arcade's high score holder on the dance game. He's got that popular vibe going, but the truth is he has no actual friends. He knows his way around Duel Monsters cards and has heard about Yugi beating Pegasus at Duelist Kingdom, though he's clearly not serious about dueling himself—his real passion is dancing.
When Anzu won their first match, Johnny wasn't ready to let it go. He tracks her and Dark Yugi down, demanding a rematch with higher stakes: if he wins, Anzu becomes his girlfriend. Dark Yugi steps in and challenges him to a duel instead. Johnny loses hard, and once he realizes he's facing the same guy who took down Pegasus, he bails.
But Anzu catches him before he can disappear. She pushes him on how many friends he actually has—he claims one, obviously lying. She tells him about her own string of failed auditions and encourages him not to give up so easily. It's a reality check that leaves him with a little more hope than he had walking in.
